What is a UFO?
The term UFO has some many connotations about what it means, many of these are extraterrestrial in origin, although not alien beings themselves. If we spell out UFO it literally means an Unidentified Flying Object. Even though most of these cases seem extraterrestrial, some people believe that these are secret governmental air or space crafts, or even something else completely explainable. Whatever these things may be, there are thousands upon thousands of reports from all over the world that claim to have sen strange objects in the sky.
Types of UFOs
When most people think of a UFO, they will think of the classic disk shaped craft that carries it's small green otherworldly occupants. However, there are several types of mysterious shapes and forms that people have observed.
- Saucer/Diskoid - The classical UFO shape, these crafts come in many different variations. Some of these variations are the flat bottomed saucer, the lenticular saucer, the flat top saucer, and many others that look like mushrooms or upside down cups.
- Spheroid - Most sightings of these crafts are described to be a perfectly silver spherical object. Sometimes these are described as amber or white light balls. These things were called the "foo-fighters" in WWII. Other variations include those with bands that protrude from the center, Saturn shaped objects, walnut shaped objects, and even crown shaped objects.
- Ovoid - These crafts are elliptical, and appear to look like ovals, footballs, eggs, acorns, and even teardrops. Sometimes these crafts will have a transparent top.
- Conical - These crafts resemble the shape of an ice cream cone. They vary in sizes from small to large.
- Cigar/Cylindrical - These crafts are described as airplanes without wings, or as a torpedo or a missile. They are generally bright and metallic or white, and often have a foggy haze around it. These crafts may also have rings or band around them, some may even end in a point. Closer sightings reveal portholes and windows that emit light.
- Triangular - Almost a majority of these crafts are reported to be dark, black objects. They are generally shaped as both equilateral and isosceles triangles, sometimes with rounded corners. Most of these crafts have three lights in each corner of the ship, although there is the occasssional fourth light in the center and sometimes windows and panels.
- Boomerang/Crescent - These crafts are shaped like the letter "V" and are usually dark, black.
